It seemed like a good idea at the time..

teen pregnancy 1

Now, – not so much.

To begin, sense (information is power) and power, (at least within the venue of “our” teens), is a rare commodity, ..let’s start with a few statistics…

In the United States…

teen pregnancy 6 sig

The teenage birth rate in the United States is the highest in the developed world, and the teenage abortion rate is also high.

In 2005 in the U.S., the majority (57%) of teen pregnancies resulted in a live birth, 27% ended in an induced abortion, and 16% in a fetal loss.

good idea - page break

The U.S. teenage pregnancy rate was at a high in the 1950s and has decreased since then, although there has been an increase in births out of wedlock.

..albeit, ..for whom?

unwed mother - black 1

Children without a father, (at least in my humble opinion), is less than the spirit of America.

The teenage pregnancy rate decreased significantly in the 1990s; this decline manifested across all racial groups, …

..although teenagers of African-American,

..and Hispanic descent retain a higher rate,

..in comparison to that of European-Americans and Asian-American communities.

The Guttmacher Institute attributed about 25% of the decline to abstinence and 75% to the effective use of contraceptives.

While in 2006 the U.S. teen birth rate rose for the first time in fourteen years, it reached a historic low in 2010: 34.3 births per 1,000 women aged 15–19.

The latest data from the United States shows that the states with the highest teenage birthrate are Mississippi, New Mexico and Arkansas while the states with the lowest teenage birthrate are New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont. (Source Wikipedia).

Yea for the Northeast

A pretty glib accounting for the wealthiest most powerful nation on the planet, ..don’t you think?

Over the last four days I’ve read more than 100 pages of statistics expounding one reason or another for the plight, and/or, (unintended pregnancies) of “young” teenage girls, none of which provided any solution.

education - graphic 1

According to Webster: “so·lu·tion,” (in context) The answer to or disposition of a problem.

girls in the classroom

According to Webster:“ed·u·ca·tion,” (context) A productive and enlightening experience.

God in the Classroom 1

Editorial: As a self educated, (nonacademic) individual, may I suggest to those of you who may still retain a “smidgen” of concern for America’s future that we, we the people, dismiss the Communists among us and return God to our children in the classroom and return the “duty and responsibility” of our coin and currency to our elected representatives in Congress as “dictated” by the Constitution that (they all) took an “oath” to uphold and defend.

this is education 2

(This is education – this has value).

According to Webster:“val·ue,” (in context) n. A principle, standard, or quality considered worthwhile or desirable.

(This is a responsibility – a duty – a burden).

According to Webster:“re·spon·si·bil·i·ty,” n. Something for which one is responsible; a duty, an obligation, or a burden.

Not that I am in any way shape or form advocating that duty, and obligation aren’t important in a person’s life, – if indeed the person is secure and up to the task?

Statistic: In the 1990s the average age a woman got married was 23, and 26 for a man.

Currently, the age for a woman to marry is 26.5 and 28.7 for a man.

Question: Why do you suppose that is?

it's the economy stupid - Red

With unemployment twice what the government is reporting, four dollar a gallon gas and $100 a month for a cell phone that provides more practical value to the government that it does to its owner, “we the people” would be (laughable) if it weren’t so damn sad.

no to marriage 1a

According to my research, young folks are delaying marriage because it’s the “capstone” to their lives, ..it is (no longer) the “cornerstone” that it use to be!

According to Webster:“cap·stone,” (in context) n.The final stroke.

this is academia 1a

An individual without the knowledge and capacity to be self-reliant is destined to be dependent on others, and/or, to be a classic progressive left-wing liberal Democrat.

progressivism - communism

In parting, a few more statistics…

A 2013 study by the Washington Times has established that there are fifteen million children in America currently growing up in homes without a father and another five million living in a home without their mother. A (sad commentary) indeed for the “wealthiest” nation on the planet.

I could break the numbers down by race and ethnicity, albeit since I don’t believe the color of one disenfranchised child is any more or less important than the color of another, I’ll sign off today with this last thought for you to ponder?

The president of the United States, irregardless of his color, ethnicity, religious beliefs or political affiliation is authorized a salary of $400,000 a year by we the people, …

So my parting question is; Which one of you (doltish morons) authorized all the other money he, and/or, “they” ..flitter away without our permission?”

Truth forges understanding, I’ll be back…
