know it all logo

According to Merriam-Webster: “lim·it,” The point, edge, or line beyond which something cannot or may not proceed.

limits - Earth 1

Question: (brainteaser), ..are there limits to NO limits?

absolutely - blue 1

…with two exception?

Albeit, ..with those two exception aside, let’s examine some of our other limits first, as example…

Speed limits…

speed limit sign 1

As a resident of South Dakota and loyal to my cause, ..what else would I provide other than a “South Dakota” speed limit sign.

Question: So why are South Dakotans’ privileged to drive at 75, when most of the lower states are restricted to 65?

Answer: It’s somewhat complicated, ..involving a number of factors, ..including physics…

Buffalo crossing the road

With South Dakota being home to a great number of Buffalo, ..and/or, ( American bison) ..there are times when the big fellows decide to cross a road and when they make that decision, they become one of the most un-welcomed road hazards on the planet.

In physics, the kinetic energy of an object is the energy which it possesses due to its motion.

It is defined as the work needed to accelerate a body of a given mass from rest to its stated velocity. Having gained this energy during its acceleration, the body maintains this kinetic energy unless its speed changes.

The same amount of work is done by the body in decelerating from its current speed to a state of rest.

In classical mechanics, the kinetic energy of a non-rotating object of mass ( m ) ..traveling at a speed ( v ) ..is ( ½ mv². ).

In relativistic mechanics, this is only a good approximation when ( v ) ..is much less than the speed of light.

Accordingly, since it’s impossible to bounce an 800 pound buffalo off the front of a vehicle weighing less than 4000 pounds at 65 miles an hour, …

South Dakota’s common sense legislators increased our speed limit to 75.

Pingping was born in 1988 in Wulanchabu, China, with a form of primordial dwarfism, and was officially recognised as the world’s shortest man in 2008 after measuring a tiny 74.61 cm (2 ft 5.37 in).

Verne Troyer - aka Mini-Me 1

Verne J. Troyer (born January 1, 1969) is an American actor and stunt performer. Troyer is notable for his height of 2 ft 8 in (0.81 m), the result of cartilage–hair hypoplasia dwarfism, making him one of the shortest men in the world. He is best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers series of comedy films.

Although Verne missed out on being the world’s shortest man by less than 3 inches, I brought him into play today simply because, ..who doesn’t like Mini Me?

Limits, at least from my research has turned out to be a subject almost without limits, ..consequently, ..instead of burning up anymore of your Sunday, I’m gonna jump right into concluding this exciting episode in my quest to provide the world with trivia, ..and/or, ..insignificant and inessential information.

In initiating today’s offering I “boldly” stated that there were two exceptions to limitations, so here they are…

In my (learned opinion) the only two things that mankind is not limited by, ..are imagination, ..and stupidity!

As for the speed limit when passing a school bus unloading children, you better damn well have your foot on the brake or

(the man)…

writing a ticket 1

..will write you tickets almost without limits.

Truth forges understanding, I’ll be back tomorrow
