The Kleptocratic Oath..

What is the kleptocratic oath?

 I swear - it's all hours now 1a

(I swear on my mother’s Bible, ..going forward, ..you and I Babe, ..are going to run through America’s treasury, ..like warm grease through a goose on steroids.

As any good (progressive) politician will tell you these days,

to be at the top of your game, ..it’s imperative to never let a National crisis or natural disaster go un-exploited.

A “Factoid” created by “yours truly” to provide (my humble opinion) to patriotic Americans with “common sense” as to why politicians huddle in soundproof walnut paneled rooms behind closed doors to practice their craft.

Physicians and healthcare professionals have their honored Hippocratic oath, historically (in short) swearing to practice medicine honestly.

Of course, historically, doctors, ..and/or, ..physicians, ..and healthcare professionals tend to emerge from the ethical and honorable segment of our society.

Question: So do lawyers have anything analogous to the Hippocratic oath?

negative 1A

As lawyers and those in the legal profession tend to emerge more from the unethical and less reputable segment of our society, (in my humble, albeit “conservative” opinion) ..the thought of (swearing an oath to honesty) – (in my considered opinion) has never occurred to any of them.

corruption bribes 1

According to Webster: “klep·toc·ra·cy,” A government characterized by rampant greed and corruption.

Kleptocracy, alternatively cleptocracy or kleptarchy, (from Greek: κλέπτης – kleptēs, “thief” and κράτος – kratos, “power, rule”, hence “rule by thieves”) is a form of political and government corruption ..where the government exists to increase the personal wealth and political power of its officials and the ruling class at the expense of the wider population, ..often without pretense of honest service.

This type of government corruption is often achieved by the embezzlement of state funds. (Source Wikipedia).

Characteristics…

Kleptocracies are generally associated with corrupt forms of authoritarian governments, particularly dictatorships, oligarchies, military juntas, or some other forms of autocratic and nepotist government in which no outside oversight is possible, due to “the ability of the kleptocrat(s) to personally control both the supply of public funds and the means of determining their disbursal.” Kleptocratic rulers typically treat their country’s treasury as though it were their own personal bank account, spending the funds on luxury goods as they see fit. Many kleptocratic rulers also secretly transfer public funds into secret personal numbered bank accounts in foreign countries in order to provide them with continued luxury if/when they are eventually removed from power and forced to leave the country.

Kleptocracy is most common in developing countries whose economies are based on the export of natural resources. Such export incomes constitute a form of economic rent and are therefore easier to siphon off without causing the income itself to decrease (for example, due to capital flight as investors pull out to escape the high taxes levied by the kleptocrats).

Kleptocracy, The term means “rule by thieves”. Not an “official” form of government (such as democracy, republic, monarchy, theocracy), the term is a pejorative for governments perceived to have a particularly severe and systemic problem with the selfish misappropriation of public funds by those in power.

Effects…

The effects of a kleptocratic regime or government on a nation are typically adverse in regards to the faring of the state’s economy, political affairs and civil rights.

As the kleptocracy normally embezzles money from its citizens by (misusing funds) derived from tax payments, or money laundering schemes, a kleptocratically structured political system tends to degrade nearly everyone’s quality of life.

According to my copy of the (SWAG) dictionary: “fubar,” i.e.,

“(flubbed) up beyond all repair.”

In addition, the money that kleptocrats steal is often taken from funds that were earmarked for public amenities, such as the building of hospitals, schools, roads, parks and the like – which has further adverse effects on the quality of life of the citizens living under a kleptocracy.

A government controlled by one person, or a small group of people. In this form of government the power rests entirely on the person or group of people, and can be obtained by force or by inheritance. The dictator(s) may also take away much of its peoples’ freedom.

In contrast to the varying manifestations of authoritarianism, more democratic forms of governance as a standard mode of political organization became widespread only after the Industrial Revolution had established modernity.

Tyrants and oligarchs bracketed the flourishing of democracy in ancient Athens; and kings and emperors preceded and followed experimentation with democratic forms in the Roman Republic.

Vlad Dracula 1a

In the 15th century, Vlad Dracula is credited for being the first ruler of Wallachia and Transylvania to rule by Authoritarianism.

Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431–1476), was a member of the House of Drăculești, a branch of the House of Basarab, also known by his patronymic name: Dracula.

He was posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș and was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462, the period of the incipient Ottoman conquest of the Balkans. His father, Vlad II Dracul, was a member of the Order of the Dragon, which was founded to protect Christianity in Eastern Europe.

Vlad III is revered as a hero in Bulgaria as well for his protection of the Bulgarian population both south and north of the Danube.

A significant number of Bulgarian common folk and remaining boyars (nobles) moved north of the Danube, recognized his leadership and became part of Wallachia, following his raids on the Ottomans.

As the cognomen ‘The Impaler’ suggests, his practice of impaling his enemies is central to his historical reputation. During his lifetime, his reputation for excessive cruelty spread abroad, to Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

The total number of his victims is estimated in the tens of thousands. The name of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula was inspired by Vlad’s patronymic. (Source Wikipedia).

Psychological explanations for authoritarianism…

With the decline of authoritarianism as a legitimate method of government after World War II and the commencement of the Nuremberg Trials in Germany, psychologists from around the world began to ask questions as to how individuals from Germany and other authoritarian states were compelled to commit crimes against humanity.

One experiment by Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram attempted to answer whether or not accomplices in the Holocaust were acting with a shared sense of morality (i.e. All accomplices believed that the individuals in the Holocaust deserved to die) or if they were acting according to the situations they were exposed to (i.e. Soldiers, expected to follow orders, did so, even if those orders directly contradicted their personal beliefs).

The initial results of the Milgram experiment identified that 65% of its participants would lethally harm another human being if they were ordered to do so.

Variations of this experiment were conducted around the world with similar results. Milgram hypothesised that these results were due to two separate factors:

The theory of conformism’, an individual who has no ability or expertise to make decisions will leave decision making to the group. And,…

The agentic state theory, whereby a person views him/herself as an agent for the execution of another person’s will. Due to this, the individual no longer identifies himself as being responsible for his actions. (Source Wikipedia).
