Alluding to the “unforeseen”: Oneirology, turns out to be the second (word) my career of employing Webster to define (untraditional) words for my readers that is not defined in Webster’s.

Moving on…

Oneirology, from Greek ὄνειρος, oneiros, “dream”; and -λογία, -logia, “the study of”) is the scientific study of dreams.

Current research seeks correlations between dreaming and current knowledge about the functions of the brain, as well as understanding of how the brain works during dreaming as pertains to memory formation and mental disorders.

The study of oneirology can be distinguished from dream analysis in that the aim is to quantitatively study the process of dreams instead of analyzing the meaning behind them.

According to Wikipedia…

Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. The content and purpose of dreams are not definitively understood, though they have been a topic of scientific speculation, as well as a subject of philosophical and religious interest, throughout recorded history.

The scientific study of dreams is called oneirology.

Dreams mainly occur in the rapid-eye movement (REM) stage of sleep—when brain activity is high and resembles that of being awake.

REM sleep is revealed by continuous movements of the eyes during sleep. At times, dreams may occur during other stages of sleep. However, these dreams tend to be much less vivid or memorable.

Dreams can last for a few seconds, or as long as twenty minutes. People are more likely to remember the dream if they are awakened during the REM phase.

The average person has about 3 to 5 dreams per night, but some may have up to 7 dreams in one night. The dreams tend to last longer as the night progresses. During a full 8-hour night sleep, two hours of it is spent dreaming. Dreams have been seen as a connection to the unconscious.

They range from normal and ordinary to overly surreal and bizarre. Dreams can have varying natures, such as frightening, exciting, magical, melancholic, adventurous, or sexual.

The events in dreams are generally outside the control of the dreamer, with the exception of lucid dreaming, where the dreamer is self-aware.

Dreams can at times make a creative thought occur to the person or give a sense of inspiration.

Opinions about the meaning of dreams have varied and shifted through time and culture. Dream interpretations date back to 5000-4000 BC. The earliest recorded dreams were acquired from materials dating back approximately 5,000 years, in Mesopotamia, where they were documented on clay tablets.

In the Greek and Roman periods, the people believed that dreams were direct messages from the gods, or from the dead and that they predicted the future.

Some cultures practiced dream incubation with the intention of cultivating dreams that are prophetic.

The Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud, who developed the discipline of psychoanalysis, wrote extensively about dream theories and interpretations. He explained dreams as manifestations of our deepest desires and anxieties, often relating to repressed childhood memories or obsessions.

In The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud developed a psychological technique to interpret dreams and devised a series of guidelines to understand the symbols and motifs that appear in our dreams.

Dream interpretations…

Dream interpretation can be a result of subjective ideas and experiences. A recent study conducted by the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology concluded that most people believe that “their dreams reveal meaningful hidden truths”.

The study was conducted in the United States, South Korea and India. 74% Indians, 65% South Koreans and 56% Americans believe in Freud’s dream theories.

According to these series of studies, we are irrational about dreams the same way we are irrational in our every day decisions.

In their search for meaning, humans can turn to dreams in order to find answers and explanations. The studies find that dreams reflect the human trait of optimistic thinking since the results depict that humans tend to focus more on dreams where good things take place. (Source, Wikipedia).

For the past 1347 days America has been deceived and dictated to by an individual (not only) with “questionable” credentials, ..but in (my considered opinion,) ..with “questionable” conduct.

An individual, ..and/or, (unknown quantity) ..that “literally” arrived from (left) field with no applicable history to qualify to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office. (Which of course by any standard of common sense) should have immediately been recognized as a (red flag) by a nation as educated as America. Nevertheless (this individual) ..was “immediately” accepted and adopted by “our” corruptible progressive liberal socialist (anti-constitutional) mainstream media, ..or as I personally prefer; “Our” ..teleprompter reading buffoons!”

Not only did our corruptible progressive liberal socialist anti-constitutional mainstream media promote this uncredentialed individual, they launched vicious unsubstantiated campaigns against any and all that were running against him.

Question: A second red flag? To an individual with common sense, ..absolutely!

The media attack (one that I would “personally parallel” to Hitler’s blitzkrieg in 1939) ..against John McCain and Sarah Palin was shameful enough, ..albeit (their) onslaught against Hillary Rodham Clinton, (one of their own), least prior to (the) ..takeover by the “One World Government” ..for lunch bunch, ..would have been unthinkable.

Question: What did the “in my humble opinion” (uninformed and misled) individuals who elected Barack Obama actually know about him prior to casting their votes?

Not because the average American citizen, i.e., ..voter, is stupid, ..but rather because he or she is trusting. Or more correctly, ..“they” are programmed to believe what “they” receive from their broadcast media, (television and radio) ..or read in a legitimate newspaper is valid.

A sad commentary to be sure, ..albeit (totally) ..gone are the days when you, ..and I mean (every one of you) ..can trust or believe anything “our” ..and/or, ..(those) “we” elect ..and/or, hire) to serve as “our” (representatives) in “our” Government.

..or more correctly, “their” Government.

In 2008 America voted for a fiction composed by unseen scriptwriters behind closed doors…

..the news media, regardless of their rhetoric, are not your friends.

Think about it, I’ll be back tomorrow
