Question of the day..

Forty-seven thousand American citizens seriously injured on foreign soil, why?

Is it force of habit?

After all, America did indeed stem from the bloodsoaked soil of our original 13 colonies.

American Revolutionary war; “50,000 American casualties, dead and wounded.

1812, (America’s forgotten War) 1600 killed in action, 3,679 wounded, 3,321 deaths from disease.

Followed by more “Indian Wars” ..that ensued as Americans moved west. (Deaths and casualties not recorded).

1861, ..the Civil War, prosecuted in the (presumptive) light of emancipation. United States, 140,414 killed in action. 275,200 wounded. 365,000 total dead. Confederate states, 72,524 killed in action. 137,000+ wounded. 260,000 total dead.

After which of course, we, (the collective America) waged war on the Native American again, until the Native American was reduced to a Cliff note in history.

1898, ..the “Spanish–American War,” ..a conflict, i.e., (WAR)  between Spain and the United States, ..effectively the result of American intervention in the ongoing Cuban War of Independence. American attacks on Spain’s Pacific possessions also led to the involvement in the Philippine Revolution and ultimately to the Philippine–American War. 3,045 dead, ..1,577 wounded, ..2,565 deaths from disease.

1914, ..WW-I, ..albeit America under the guidance of Woodrow Wilson remained neutral until Germany invited Mexico to join their effort with the promise to return the territories of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona to Mexico. Subsequently, Congress authorized America’s entry into World War I on April 6, 1917. The Allies, 5,525,000 dead, 12,831,500 wounded.

1941, ..WW-II, Theodore Roosevelt announced; “A day that would be remembered in infamy. The Allies, 16,000,000 plus dead. Civilian dead, 45 million.

1953, ..the Korean War, ..justification; To prevent the spread of World Communism. American Dead, 36,940, ..American wounded, 92,134, ..missing in action, 3,737.

(Sidebar) Albeit the Constitution of the United States not only allows, literally guarantees an individual American citizen the right to (believe in and practice) his or her religion, and/or his or her political beliefs to the conclusion that today in the 21st Century, ..we, (America) ..employ “openly communist” men and women in our federal government.

Question: How many Americans (Liberal, Independent or Conservative) today, ..subscribe to; (Luke 6:27-28); “But I tell you who hear me: “Love your enemies, good to those who hate you, ..bless those who curse you, ..pray for those who mistreat you?

1965, ..the U.S. officially sends combat troops into the Republic of South Vietnam, (unofficial 1961) Justification, once again to prevent the spread of world Communism. American dead, 58,220, ..American wounded, 303,644.

1990, ..the Gulf War, ..justification, ..Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. Coalition; 392 dead, 776 wounded.

2001, .. The Afghanistan War, ..justification, defeat the Taliban and terrorism. Americans, more than 1800 dead and more than 14,000 wounded.

2003, ..the IraqWar, ..justification, free the Iraqi people from oppression. Coalition forces, ..4,805 dead, ..32,753 wounded.

Today, .. Terrorism, and/or, ..the Global War on Terror is a term commonly applied to an international military campaign led by the United States and the United Kingdom with the support of other NATO as well as non-NATO countries.

Originally, the campaign was waged against al-Qaeda and other militant organizations with the purpose of eliminating them.

The phrase ‘War on Terror’ was first used by U.S. President George “Duba” Bush and other high-ranking U.S. officials to denote ideological organizations intent on retaliation against Western culture led by militant Islamists and al-Qaeda.

Al Qaeda, translation, (The Base) a Global Militant Islamic Organization founded by (now deceased) “Osama bin Ladin” in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1988.

However, as our current President and Commander-in-Chief, Barack Obama has issues with nomenclature, he prefers not refer to “Militant Islamists” as “Militant Islamists.” Therefore America’s (war on terror) is currently, i.e., and officially,  ..America’s  “Overseas Contingency Operation.”

Which, “at least in my opinion,” should make it somewhat tedious, if anyone is ever awarded the “United States Global War on Terrorism Service Medal” while Barack Obama is in office.

1 Timothy 6:10 – King James Version..

“For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, ..they have erred from the faith, ..and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Albeit I am not aware of any bankers, politicians or elite that currently subscribe to anything beyond increasing their own personal power and wealth, ..I continue to plug along at my keyboard in “hope and anticipation” that the “rank and file” will one day be kissed by reality and awaken from oblivion.

It seems to me that not a day goes by anymore without a myriad of ads and solicitations for the wounded warrior Project.

Not that I’m adverse to individuals helping each other, to the contrary, I sincerely believe that the world becomes a better place every time one human being helps another. However with that said, I am opposed to individuals who create foundations and organizations for personal power and wealth.

In a few minutes this afternoon, I have discovered that, at least in my opinion, the wounded Warriors Project, not only provides for and helps our injured and wounded service men and women, the organizers and officers in the organization have done quite a lot to help themselves, along with the advertising industry that brings their cause before the American public.

Question: Am I that cynical? bet I am.

After my encounter with a Sixty millimeter mortar round in a peanut field outside of Ap bau Bang, in South Vietnam, I was sent to Letterman General Hospital at the Presidio of San Francisco, in California. I arrived at Letterman, barefoot, but not fancy free, as my boots were commandeered sometime during the night while I was at the 3rd field hospital in Saigon. My boots were near new, and since a good pair of boots was a much sought after item in 1965, I’m sure that’s why mine were missing the next morning. What the hey, ”Alls fair in Love and War,” ..or at least that cliché has been around for a long time.

According to several profiles and bios that I researched via the Net, ..John Melia served honorably in the United States Marine Corps, ..Huray! Kudos to John for his service. However, being the time created critic and cynic that I am. Time and interaction with good well-meaning Homo sapiens has taught me where money is involved, (selfishness and corruption) is often not far behind.

John Melia – Founder

John could be the salt of the earth? However when I come across statistics that enlighten me to the fact that John’s knocking down a salary nearing $200,000 a year for his benevolence, it makes me wonder?

Then I read further to learn that one of John’s cofounders, a young man, (an attorney) Steven Nardizzi, Esq. (the Esquire is a great touch) ..currently the executive director, ..making the same or near salary, exuberance begins to wane.

Steven Nardizzi, Esq. – Executive Director

Steve helped found Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) in 2003 and currently serves as executive director, overseeing all aspects of the organization.

He helped draft the original text for the Traumatic Injury Servicemens Group Life Insurance Benefit Bill which has processed over $200 million in benefits.

For more than 10 years prior to joining Wounded Warrior Project, Steve worked as an attorney representing disabled veterans for several veterans organization, and was the associate executive director of Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association.

Steve also helped found Soldier Ride, an affiliate charity (now a WWP program) which assists in the rehabilitation of injured service members by sponsoring cycling events. WWP Soldier Ride serves the dual purpose of raising public awareness for the needs of wounded soldiers while assisting them in their rehabilitation.

Steve is originally from New York, and currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida, with his lovely wife, Nikki (Source Wikipedia)

The Wounded Warrior Project is a (nonprofit organization) whose mission is to “honor and empower wounded warriors” of the United States Armed Forces.

“The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) works to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.” (Source Wikipedia)

Although I am no expert, I do understand that television advertising is valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars per minute. Accordingly, as I can (on any given day) personally recount viewing the wounded warrior add from 3 to 6 times a day, (and I don’t actually watch that much television,) someone’s spending a lot of money, and when someone spends a lot of money, “Sir Isaac Newton” would tell you, ..someone is making a lot of money.

Military personnel are employees of the U.S. Government, (“our” government) with full medical benefits. Accordingly, we, “We the People,” are, ..and have always paid the bill for our military personnel.

Question: Is it adequate? I suppose that would depend on the individual. For an individual who understands where he or she is, ..and how he or she got there? My conclusion would be in the affirmative.

However, in (my long suffered personal opinion,) adequate is and has never been adequate. What is needed is a solution.

America is 236 years old, ..don’t you think it’s about time “we” grow up? ..and reorganize. If we, “We the People” get together, I’m sure that we, the collective “we” could find among the 311 million residents of this Great Nation, 537 God-fearing decent, grown-ups that would lead America out of the mire created by the narcissistic ego driven, greedy elitist that are currently at the helm. (A new President, ..a new Vice Pewsident, ..and 535 new Congress men and women).

The solution to the “Wounded Warriors” (problem) is quite simple, ..once you remove your head from your armpit. We, “we the people” simply employ a government that will stop involving America in conflicts beyond America’s borders.

And no, I’m not forgetting the Globalists, ..I’d like to, ..but I’m not. As an individual who believes in freedom, I believe that the (globalists) should not be hindered in their pursuits. With that said, I also believe that they, (The Globalists,) should migrate to the part of the globe that they deem worth their efforts.

The American government, by no other authority than its title, in “my considered opinion,” is responsible to America and the American people. The American government is not responsible to China, to Russia, to the Middle East or any other GPS coordinates on the planet outside of “our” own boundaries.

As I have pledged my support and allegiance to America my entire adult life, America owes its support and allegiance to me and every other American who has supported America with their allegiance and tax dollars to be responsible to America and its citizens.

America (is not) and (was not) founded to be a (haven or halfway house) for the “dregs and disenfranchised” of the world. America has, ..and has always had an immigration policy, (A law, for those of you who have a problem with grasping reality) America is a Nation that welcomes immigrants, (legal immigrants). America is a nation of laws, and if my (two cents) is worth anything? it is long past time that America began enforcing its laws instead of bending its laws to suit the moment.

One last Question; If there were such a thing as an open market for arms and legs and lives, ..what $ price would you put on yours?

Think about it, I’ll be back tomorrow
