Competition..

According to Webster: com·pe·ti·tion, 1. The act of competing, as for profit or a prize; rivalry. 2. A test of skill or ability; a contest:

Without competition, nothing would have value. Without ignorance, there would be no quest for knowledge. Without Barack Obama there would be no competition between ignorance and common sense, or at least that’s my opinion.

Getting started this morning with plenty of time to ponder, I’ve come up with a theory. Whether delivered by God or Mother Nature, ..the deliverance of Barack Obama, at least to those of us that ponder, could be the sign from beyond that is required periodically to keep the world and its minions on the right path?

According to Webster: min·ion, An obsequious follower or dependent; a sycophant.

According to Webster: ob·se·qui·ous, Full of or exhibiting servile compliance.

According to Webster: syc·o·phant, A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.

To borrow a catchphrase from the United Negro College fund; “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

America’s Declaration of Independence begins with these words; “We hold these truths to be self-evident, “that all men are created equal,” that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

So let’s break it down…

Self evident?

According to Webster: self-ev·i·dent, Requiring no proof or explanation.

Taking it a step further…

According to Webster: self, The total, essential, or particular being of a person; the individual.

According to Webster: ev·i·dent, Easily seen or understood; obvious.

Although I do not believe myself to be a complicated person, by Webster’s definition, ..I am not simple..

According to Webster: sim·ple, Having or composed of only one thing, element, or part.

..and the proof I offer, ..is the fact that I did not vote for Barack Obama.

If necessity is truly the mother of invention, then, “at least in my opinion,” common sense has to be the bread-and-butter of humanity.

According to Webster: common sense n. Native good judgment. [Translation of Latin s¶nsus comm¿nis, common feelings of humanity.]

According to Webster: feel·ing, (in context) An affective state of consciousness.

According to Webster: hu·man·i·ty, (in context) The quality of being humane; benevolence.

Accordingly, if “men,” Homo sapiens, i.e., human beings are as the Declaration of Independence claims, “endowed,” by their creator, with certain unalienable rights…

According to Webster: en·dowed, 1. To provide with property, income, or a source of income. 2. To equip or supply with a talent or quality.

..then why do “men,” i.e., people, spend so much of their lives exploring and being influenced by ignorance?

According to Webster: ig·no·rance, The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.
